Rabbi Gavriel and Rebbetzin Sara Marzel arrived in central Tzfat as shluchim, emissaries, of the Lubavitcher Rebbe in 1978. They have built up Chabad House of the Old City from the ground up. The Marzels direct all Chabad House and outreach activities in the region and run the Tzemach Tzedek Shul with all of its programs. In 5765 (2005), Rabbi Marzel remodeled the famous Tzemach Tzedek Shul with the help of the Rappaport Foundation of Toronto, Canada. The Marzels have received numerous awards for their work in building up Tzfas and the community at large.
Rabbi Mendel Zilberstrom is a dynamic director of the Chabad House, who joined the staff in 5775 (2015). A Torah scholar and effective administrator, he has helped Chabad of the Old City reach its next level.
